Trick or Treat!

We had a wonderful Halloween night this year! We picked up dinner and went to a friends' house to eat and take the kids trick or treating in their neighborhood. Micah was a tiger this year although most people seemed to think he was Tiger and Emmie was a duck. Both kids did a great job, Micah absolutely loved ringing the doorbell and was great about saying "trick or treat" and always said thank you. After a few houses he caught on to the whole deal and started saying Thank you, let's go to the next house! It was so fun to watch him enjoy the evening and we were so happy he walked through the neighborhood on his best behavior and was really a joy to be with. Emmie also did great, she just sat in the stroller and watched all the other kids running around. When we finally got back home he quickly drank two cups of milk and then played with Stephen until bedtime. Emmie did great too and fell asleep before we left, wow it's so nice to have such a calm baby this time. Zac & I were commenting on the way home that it is great that Emmie is so laid back, it allows us to go places and do things in the evenings that we couldn't do when Micah was a baby.
Here are a few pictures of the kids. Micah was a tiger, Emmie a duck and Stephen a monkey:

Picture overload

Here is what I call picture overload...the family at a wedding on Lake Conroe it was very windy but we managed to get a decent picture.
My dad "entertaining" Emmie during the reception.
Emmie's first pair of jeans! I'll have to get a shot of her backside since there's a flower on her pocket.
My sister took pictures of the kids while she was visiting...here are a few of my favorites.

Who can resist this smiley face and cute little feet.

Emmie started solid foods to help her gain weight and she is loving the food. She reminds me of a baby bird, she loves the food and can even drink from a sippy cup although she'll only drink water, no formula. Micah is always begging to feed Emmie but at least he's great at entertaining her while I get everything ready and clean up afterwards.

Micah loves to climb up and talk to her. He usually copies what I have said before, things like "was that a good meal?" "it's okay pretty girl" "did you have a good nap" All different things that I say in the course of the day he just doesn't always use them in context.
Micah finally got dirty while fingering painting. He loved it! Here are the kids pretending to take a nap...Micah always insists I cover them both with his blanket.

Micah got big boy jammies this winter! He said that he was wearing pajama pants just like Mommy! It made me laugh because they actually look like Zac's but I wear jammie pants much more often than Zac.
We went to the pumpkin patch this past weekend and they had so many things for Micah to do. He loved riding the giant tricycle and the corn train was his absolute favorite! In case you're wondering, we did take Emmie she just didn't do any of the activities yet!

Last picture...Emmie wearing her first fall outfit, notice the pink shoes!
That's all the pictures and captions for now. I'll try to update again soon. And for the moving update, we're still waiting on the super slow real estate market to start moving and hopefully we'll get an offer soon so we can complete our move.

Last update!

This will be the last update of the past few weeks. Micah got injured on our vacation and had to make his first trip to the ER. We were laying down in bed during nap time and somehow he managed to fall and hit his head on the headboard of the bed. It was a horrible hollow sound and I immediately grabbed him and put his head on my shoulder and left the room as it was dark because we had the hurricane shutters shut. I got halfway down the stairs toward Zac and told him I thought he'd broken his nose. Well once I got all the way down the stairs and got a look at him we realized that he'd only hit his head but had a pretty severe cut on his head and a large knot. Micah & I were both bloody and Zac & I quickly decided we needed to take him to the ER to get checked out since this was Monday and we couldn't see our doctor until a week later. Off we went to UTMB's ER, they were wonderful there. They have a children's ER so we were seen quickly. The doctor decided to use dermabond, a medical super glue of sorts, to close the wound. Holding Micah down for them to clean the wound and glue took 4 of us but it worked and the cut got clean and closed. He wasn't too happy but he enjoyed the popsicle they gave him when it was time to go home. He's fine now and was then after he stopped crying, kids are amazingly resilient. Here are the pictures...warning they are bloody and gross. In the ER waiting room.

Snack of crackers while waiting...
Quick picture with Mom while we're waiting.
Bloody view before the cleaning and glue

Vacation

Zac's parents rented a beach house again this year for a week in Galveston and invited his entire family down to spend time on the beach. It was such a great week, the kids got to visit with Zac's parents and grandparents. Emerson did a great job being away from home for a week and Micah did a pretty good job too. Micah loves to be spoiled by his Granna, she's willing to do just about anything with him. His favorite thing at the beach is jumping in the waves. He can do it by himself for a little while but then it gets too deep and he needs someone to carry him while the waves hit him! He's so funny to watch, he just kept telling his Granna & Da to go out deeper. Micah also had a ton of fun playing with his cousin Matthew. Their favorite thing was running up and down the deck on the house chasing each other. It was really a loud activity but it did wear them out and help them sleep! The boys did a great job sharing their toys and their Granna! We had one day when Micah couldn't go to the beach so we took him & Papa to the Lone Star flight museum. They both loved looking at all the airplanes and we got them both a souvenir for acting good while on the field trip! Emmie went to the beach too but since she's had respiratory problem the pedi didn't want me to use sunscreen on her so she had very limited exposure outside. Her Granna took her in the waves a little and she really enjoyed them. Hopefully she'll be a water baby just like Micah. Here are tons of pictures at the beach from this past week--

Finally updating

After a crazy last month I'm finally updating our blog so bear with me as I add pictures and stories over time. Our month of September started with Micah getting bronchitis and Emmie catching RSV. Micah was better after a round of antibiotics but Emmie was much slower to bounce back. I had no idea how dangerous RSV can be for babies as young as she was (3 months). Once she tested positive for RSV we started steroids to help her lungs clear and to keep them from permanent damage. She also started Nebulizer treatments which helped her breathing a ton! I can say we are finally cured and hopefully won't have to deal with that awful sickness again anytime soon.

Micah started a preschool at a local church in September but isn't too crazy about it yet. We keep taking him but he really doesn't like it so I'm trying to decide what to do...since we're moving soon I hate to keep torturing him if he really doesn't like it. I just keep hoping he'll change his mind and love it. I think he likes the school, just hates the part when Emmie & I leave him.

Zac's parents also visited at the beginning of September and everyone had a great time visiting and relaxing over the holiday weekend. Zac's dad was able to get Emmie to laugh for the first time! It was so cute to hear and nice to see her love her Da so much.

We had to get Micah a bigger car seat since he's so tall. We probably could have waited until the spring but they were having sale so we went ahead and I thought he looks so big sitting in it! We also went home to Dallas for my 10 year reunion...it was so fun to see people I hadn't kept up with as I should have. My family was great and kept our kids so Zac & I could enjoy 2 whole nights without kids.

Here is an overload of pictures for the whole month!
