Good news and bad

Well, the good news is that Micah is finally back on the road to feeling better. The cough medicine the doctor gave us is great and is helping him get rested so he can visit everyone next week. I was hoping to be done with the medicine, but he still has a cough sometimes so it's better just to keep giving it to him until all traces of sickness are gone.
Now on to the bad news...he was starting to crawl before he got sick and now...nothing. He forgot all of it! I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before he remembers, but he's back to the army crawl.
Here are a few pictures of him playing yesterday, he was on the hunt for Zac's slippers under a chair and one of him today before we left to run errands. He's getting more hair and looks more like a little boy instead of a baby every day.

Long time

Wow...it's been a long time since I've sat down and updated everyone on what Micah has been up to. Well, in a nutshell...everything! He's still not crawling, but he's so close it's painful to watch. He can efficiently scoot across the room to something and get into anything. He is getting very frustrated that he can't crawl yet, he gets on his knees and stares at his hands as if he is saying, move me forward, but he can't put it all together yet.

He is really enjoying his solid foods, he's a great eater. We started meat tonight with a few tablespoons of turkey & rice dinner. He seemed to like it after a few bites, he followed the turkey up with his favorite, apples & blueberries! I'm lucky that he's patient, he doesn't cry in the high chair while I'm getting ready, he just plays with whatever I give him and waits until I'm ready to feed him. He also doesn't cry when it's gone, although it does make me wonder if he's full enough.
He still only has two teeth on the bottom, who knows when he'll get more, but he is chewing on everything. We decorated the house after Thanksgiving, here is Micah "playing" with the lights. Don't worry, we were right there, he didn't eat any lights.

He is now 7 months old and talks like crazy. He can say "da da" and usually choses to yell it at me. It's very annoying because he can say "ma ma" but really favors "da da" right now. He doesn't know who "da da" is, only that it's fun to say. He is a really fun kid right now, I am really enjoying this period and watching him discover his surroundings each day.

Fall leaves

Micah "played" in the leaves today. He was mostly afraid of the sound they made when they moved around. We got a few pictures of him not crying but it wasn't easy.

We are at my parents' house for the week, we came in town for Matthew's 1st birthday party yesterday and are staying until after Thanksgiving. Micah got his own present at the party wrapped in tissue so he could open it. Here he is:

My new sweater

In anticipation of colder weather, I bought Micah a sweater this weekend. Here he is modeling it for everyone to see.

Zac got home this afternoon from his end of the week conference in San Francisco. Micah & I were both glad he's home. I think Micah is more excited so he'll have someone else to play with tomorrow. Here they are playing together before bath time. Zac was eating Micah's hands which was the funniest thing Micah had ever seen.

Watching football

Micah & Daddy watched the Texans lose a close game today. Micah was actually playing a little more than he was watching, but both had fun. This is a lamb blanket that was given to Micah & now he likes laying on it and eating it. He got into a wrestling match with it and I think he won!

Micah can rock back and forth on his knees. He can get up on his knees on his own every once in a while, but he really rocks if you put him on his knees. Here he is today and wrestling with the lamb.

Fun before bed

Micah was very tired today, he & I had played hard. Zac gave him his bath and then a bottle and Micah appeared to go right to sleep. I took this cute picture of him, but after a few minutes it was evident that he was just playing possum! That's a trick he must have learned from his Aunt Casey.

We took a few pictures of him playing before his bath. He was unusually silly and giggling tonight.

Crazy in my bath

Micah decided tonight that he could get up on all fours when Zac was bathing him. Here he is in the bath and then one of them together afterwards! He can get up on his knees in his bed and now in his bath!

Here is one of them together afterwards!

6 months old!

Micah turned six months old on Monday. We went to the doctor for his check-up and shots the same day. He weighed in at 17 pounds 10 ounces and was 26 1/2" long. He is really getting big now. He is working to perfect his skills at sitting on his own. He is getting really good at eating his solids without much prodding for him to open his mouth. Today he started really opening his mouth every time he saw the spoon. He will be starting meat next week or as soon as I can get to the store to buy it! Here are a few pictures from today. Zac & I sat him on the bed to take a few pictures of him and he decided to sit up off the pillows and sit like a big boy. Here he is "helping" hold his feet up while Zac changes a dirty diaper.

Almost Halloween

My parents came bearing gifts this weekend. Included in Micah's stuff was a duck costume. He is so cute in it and it fits perfectly. We put him in it and took pictures. My personal favorite is the duck tail, if he were older he would be able to waddle when he walks!! He isn't adjusting to the new time yet, he was up at 4:45am this morning. It was way to early for me!

A lazy day

Micah is not feeling well again, his cold is rearing it's ugly head again. I really think he & I are just passing a cold back and forth between us. He is like me though, he sneezes like crazy to get his congestion out, I think he sneezed 15 times in the hour after he woke up. Lucky me, I get to constantly wipe his nose and he HATES it. He's been a little whiney today, but mostly he's just sat with me on the couch and cuddled or slept. We went to the park to swing for a little while this afternoon. He likes the swing but wasn't up to showing much of a reaction today. He sat on the counter while I made dinner tonight and played with his toes. They are really his new favorite toy and probably the reason he can't sit up yet. Every time he sits up, he grabs for his toes or a toy and goes face down to the floor. It's funny to watch, but I wish he could sit up, he'd have so much more fun with his toys. Well, his time will come soon!

Here's him helping me cook. Doesn't he look like a big boy? He's sleeping now, while we watch the World Series!

Mommy's big helper

Micah was a huge help today with laundry...here is what he did while I folded clothes. He was in his exersaucer and started fussing so I put him in there thinking that something new would keep him quiet. It worked and he started making funny faces as always.
There is also a new video of him "dancing" in front of the mirror. Zac thinks he is stepping, like he's walking, but that didn't really look obvious in the video.

We had our first day when we didn't go outside at all. It was too cold today and Micah wore his jammies all day. I think he might have been a little crazy from no fresh air, but hopefully the wind will die down and we can at least sit outside again soon. Here are a few other shots I took that I think are really cute.

My spiky hair!

Micah's hair is growing longer now. We can finally spike it into a mohawk! Here he is after his bath tonight and of course like always he manages to make a funny face at just the right time. We took him to the park again tonight, he had so much fun on the swing.

At the park

We took Micah to the park in our neighborhood today. It was his first visit to the park. We put him in the baby swing and pushed him. He loved it. He never made any sounds, just put his hands out and grinned at us. Now that the weather is getting better here, we'll keep taking him and letting him swing. Here are a few pictures of his big adventure.

Micah is learning to crawl!

Micah is learning to crawl. He can get up on his knees and get his entire tummy of the ground. The funniest part of it is that he grunts while he is doing it. He hasn't learned to pick up his face so it gets very red and dry as it drags across the carpet. Yesterday we went to Daddy's work to show Micah off and then out to lunch. He was very friendly at Daddy's office and a great boy while we ate lunch. He sat in a high chair at a restaurant for the very first time and he lasted longer than we thought he would. I do need to buy one of those covers for the public high chairs because he kept trying to eat the chair and chew on the table. We are spending a lot of time on the floor practing how to crawl. I put extra lotion on his forearms & knees to keep the dry patches from becoming calluses.

Vacation-October 2005

This picture was taken on Vacation. Micah loved the beach and is getting to be such a big boy. He now loves standing with our help of course. This outfit is his "big boy" outfit, I was very excited for him to wear it. He had lots of fun on vacation playing with his cousin Matthew and in the water & sand. We will take him back to the beach next year and he can run in the water and hopefully he won't be afraid of the ocean. The boys both played in the water, we covered them with sand which was more like mud. We did not expect the boys to eat the dirt, but they both did. Luckily I did not see any dirt in the diapers later that week. I guess he didn't eat too much. Here they are covered in dirt :
