Getting better around here!

It's so much better around here! The bathroom is mostly finished, well all the major work is done and they still need to clean the tile to remove a haze left when they grouted without cleaning the sponge and finish touch-up painting, but we're pretty much done!
Here is a picture of my new bathroom...with the level, flat floor!

My parents got here on Monday and we've just been playing all week. The kids have had a ton of fun with a grandparent for each. Emmie has really taken to my dad, she acts insulted if he goes by her without saying hi or flirting with her! It's funny to watch. We spent Thursday at Sea World with Rosey & her boys. The day was long and so fun. I think we spent 7 hours playing there, riding the little roller coaster and a few other rides.

Grandpa & G.G. on a ride...it turned out it was a ride where it took forever to load as they stopped at each one to load and unload. While they did this...you guessed it, they sat in the sun. Mom & Dad reported that it wasn't bad, but I'm not sure they would have done it for me as a kid, grandkids are so lucky!

We fed the sea lions little dead fish...Micah actually threw one in. I was a little surprised he touched one but Grandpa did it first so I'm sure he realized it wouldn't hurt. The sea lions were cute and funny, Emmie loves pointing them out as if she's the only one who sees them and needs to show you.
Here were are experiencing the sea lions.

We had a great week with Grandpa and G.G. here. I got my house decorated a little more, the curtains are made and hung. I need to hem the last 3 panels but I ran out of thread and the fabric store isn't very close so they hanging without hems for now. I also got to go shopping with my mom and no kids for wall decorations! It was awesome and very fast to not put 2 kids in and out of the car at every store and I'm sure they had more fun at home with Grandpa & daddy. Here are a few pictures of our living room decor. Ignore the crazy out of place stuff...we were moving things around to find the best place for everything.

On Saturday before my parents left, we drove up to Natural Bridge Wildlife Safari and drove through that. We went early in the day while it was still cool outside and the animals were great. I took pictures with Mom's camera but have yet to see them...hint, hint! If I get pictures of it I'll post them too. The Zebras came right up to the car window and I think we got a picture of Micah petting a zebra...not something everyone can say. It was a great time for all of us, the kids love animals and being outside!

What a rare picture...they're both happy and looking the right way!

There was also a small petting zoo which promised some kind of goat and other animals but only goats were there for petting. This was Emmie's first experience with any animal other than a dog or cat and she enjoyed every part of it! There was one young goat that kept eating our clothes...if you look closely at Em's shirt you can see the goat is eating her too. I often think she's so cute I could eat her up but the goat took that seriously!

My parents left on Sunday and we are still going through withdrawal but luckily they'll be back soon. They are coming back for my birthday and my dad & Zac are going to build me a deck on the back of our house. The weather here is so nice I want a place we can put patio furniture so I can sit outside in the evenings and enjoy the breeze and peace after we put the kids down. I am so excited about it, I just can't wait!
I think that's all the news for now. We signed Micah up for swim lessons this fall so we're excited about that too. Emerson doesn't have any exciting news right now, other than she learned to walk backwards yesterday. It's funny to watch as she takes tiny steps one at a time backwards but she did stop to clap for herself. She's a sweet little girl and so different from Micah.
Here are a few other random pictures from the past week.

Emmie & Grandpa reading our new favorite book from the library...it's a duck book that quacks and she LOVES it!

Here the kids are putting stickers from the GFI box on my dad's head. My dad put in a few plugs for Zac in the garage and needed a GFI and the box came with stickers that were intended to go on the plugs buy my kids had other plans! They had so much fun sticking it to dad's head...I guess they're lucky he's lacking hair there!

Emmie wearing Micah's "muffs" in the car at the Safari ranch. There's really no point to this picture other than I think she looks adorable! And the last one...I think her cheeks are so cute smooshed (I know this isn't a word but it describes it perfectly) by the muffs.

It can get worse

Just when I thought everything that could go wrong with our house repair had...one more thing. The new framers are here to repair the floor again...they were pulling nails out of the old sub floor to remove it and apparently a water line had been hit. Water started leaking out of the flex pipe that runs in the floor joists. I heard it almost immediately and ran to turn the water off, luckily we have a shutoff in the garage at the water softener. I was eating lunch with the kids and returned to that assuming the leak was done. A few minutes later water came out of the recessed can that is over there. I grab a bucket and turn on the sink in the kitchen to help drain the remaining water in the pipes. The flow from the light slows to nothing...yeah I fixed that part. Next, I realized that the sheetrock in my ceiling is soaked and is starting to sag under the weight of the water on the floor above! The plumber is "on his way" but still haven't seen him 3 hours later! And now...it's pouring down rain, right on my wood in the driveway that was to be laid for the new sub floor.
That's the moral of my story...when it rains it pours, sometimes inside and don't ever ask "can this get worse?" Just remember my story and know the answer is of course it can.
If you read this far, please know I accept the pity you are feeling for me and pray my week gets better and dryer.

...it's coming

We had a very busy past few months. We've had a major problem with our new house...there are 3 trusses in our master bath that are not level. They came in on June 23rd and busted the tile, backer board and sub floor and "repaired" it. The title guy finally came last Wednesday to lay the tile and get the bathroom back to normal and guess what? I saw his level and my floor wasn't level. I called the builder and said they were not settting the tile until everything was perfect. We've been out of a bathroom since the 23rd of June...this is crazy. They came again today to bust the backer board and subfloor with another framer to fix it. I've been assured that it will be done by Friday so we can have our bathroom back, I pray that's right as my parents are coming next week and we really need the full use of both bathrooms with showers!
All this to say, I've felt very unsettled and crazy around the house and have felt like I don't have any free time to post or get anything else done. I'm busy entertaining the kids while workers go in & out all day. I pray there is an end in sight!
Here is a photo slide show of a bunch of pictures from visiting my parents, the caverns, painting Emmie's toes. Micah is wearing noise reducing ear muffs to help him with the noise of the fireworks...there are probably others that need an explanation but I'll have to post that later.
This is a test post of the smilebox photo show. Let me know if you think I should keep looking for a way to post lots of pictures. This post is also not proof-read as I need to get Em from her nap...forgive my crazy mistyping!
