3 weeks old

Well, we made it through Emmie's 3rd week! We had a rough day on Monday, Emerson didn't want to sleep, she just wanted to stay awake and scream at me. Luckily, we've had much better days since then. I think I'm getting used to putting her to sleep and she is finally enjoying her swing. For a while it felt like if she was awake she was crying or eating...now she has some calm awake time after each feeding. We're all adjusting to having her here, but Micah has done such a great job. He doesn't like it when she cries, he tells me to fix her because she's sad.
Last weekend, my parents came to visit again and it was great to have help again. My dad finally got to spend more time with Emerson and she fell fast asleep in his arms. Micah loves playing with G.G. & Grandpa, he can do whatever he wants when they're here!
Micah has also been playing in the rain a lot lately. As everyone knows, Texas has been getting a lot of rain the past few weeks so if it's not lightning, we'll let Micah play in it. He has so much fun running around in the rain and playing in the water coming out of the gutters. He's not too crazy about thunder, but then again...who really is? While his Grandpa was here he gave Micah a bath, I think he splashed a lot of water around the tub but he came out smelling clean! Here he is being a tiger...you'll have to imagine the growl that went with the picture!

We gave Emerson her first real bath since her belly button fell off this past week. It was definitely was a family affair, but Emmie didn't really like any of it. I've given her a few baths since the first and she still hates them! It's strange for me since Micah always loved them, but hopefully she'll like them more as she gets older.

I took Emerson to her 2 week checkup last week, she weighed 9 lbs 1 oz and was 20 1/2" long. She is growing very well and the doctor said everything looked great. We don't go back again until her 1 month check-up next week and she'll get her first round of shots and hopefully she'll do well with them. After the doctor appointment we picked up Chick-fil-A for lunch. Micah was concerned with where Emmie was while we were eating. I told him she was in her carseat by the garage door asleep. I told him when we were done eating we'd get her out and lay her down. He proceeded to get down from the table and carry his plate off. Once I finished my bite I followed to see what he was doing...he was sitting by her having a picnic as if it would hurt her feelings to be all alone while we ate! It was a precious moment and I'm glad I captured it with the camera.

Last but not least...Emerson's first picture in a dress. We have so many dresses and clothes for her it seems silly to put her in one and then change her a few hours later but if I don't she'll never wear everything she has. I love the first little pink dress but as you can tell she wasn't too thrilled at the moment or by the flash of the camera. The other little outfit my mom's neighbor sent her, it's too cute, it is pink with frogs on it. Micah loved the frogs! I just love the picture because I think it looks like she's laughing with me, at least there is proof she's happy!

Meeting family!

Emerson met her Granna & Da for the first time on Friday afternoon. She showed as much enthusiasm as she could muster up and then fell asleep on them. Micah was so excited to see Granna & Da, he loves to make Granna play cars with him. Luckily he eventually let her hold Emerson and was happy to play with Da and everyone else so Granna could get to know Emerson.

Later that evening, she also got to meet her Aunt Casey...she promptly fell asleep on her too! Casey also gets bossed around by Micah, he loves to make her sit on the floor with him and tells exactly how to play cars and trains.
Emerson also got her first bath since getting home this past week. Micah "helped" my mom & me give her a bath. We got his stool so he could what we were doing but he wasn't interested and wanted one of us to entertain him instead of dealing with Emmie. He was sweet and kept wanting to give her a car to play with, I think it will be a little while before we understand she can't do much yet.
Zac is definitely learning quickly what it means to be a daddy to a little girl. He loves holding her and cuddling with her, it's so sweet to watch. She is so lucky to have such a great dad, here is a picture of her proud daddy cuddling with her.

More sand/water table pictures, Micah loved pouring the water over his head and trying to fit his head into the trough in the table. He also loves making the dirt "plop" out of the shovel into the box. I'm sure he will get hours of entertainment out of this table and even better I'll get hours of free time with it!
The birthday party for Zac was so much fun for Micah! Lee brought party hats and blowers, both of which Micah loved. He wanted everyone in the room to wear a party hat and even had Aunt Casey wear two hats with him while being silly! With a little help, Emerson got to wear a party hat too! Her daddy thought we were really silly but the picture is too cute!

Outdoor fun!

Micah got a sand/water table from his Granna & Da as a late birthday present this weekend. It was a great big hit! He loved playing with it even before we put sand in it. He spent at least an hour just playing, splashing and even drinking the water. He was soaked to the bone but it helped him stay cool in the heat and he even had a little fun! I have more pictures to download of him playing at the table, a few of the birthday party we had for Zac and few more of Emerson meeting her Granna & Da, so hopefully I'll get those posted soon.

More Pictures!!

Here are a few other pictures of Emerson in her coming home outfit and another one Micah making sure she's doing well. He'll probably be an overprotective big brother...speaking from experience, she has a lot of fun to look forward to with a big brother! We should all keep her in our prayers from here on out!

We're home!

We got home Thursday afternoon and we're getting settled in at home. Micah did great with Emmie when we got home, he was a little standoff-ish with mom but he's getting used to me again. I think he was a little mad I was gone for a few days. Emerson is doing great, she is nursing well but is a little pigglet and wants formula shortly after nursing. She sleeps well once she falls asleep, she's overall a pretty easy baby so far. She has the cutest little hands and feet with long fingers and toes. It's amazing just how cute she is! Here are a bunch of pictures of the past few days.

She's here!!

Emerson arrived today, June 5th, at 1:17pm. She weighed 8lbs 4oz and was 20in long. The doctor induced my labor at 7am and the delivery was pretty quick and mostly pain free. We are all doing great, Emmie is nursing great and I've been up moving around already. I expect to be in the hospital until Thursday so pictures probably won't be posted until then. Micah did great meeting her, he kissed her and helped me hold her. We do have to work on him being gentle with her.
Thanks for all the prayers for us. We'll try to keep everyone updated. We love you all!

Finally an end date!!

I went to the doctor today and we are now scheduled an induction for 7am Tuesday, June 5th...that's tomorrow!! We'll get there at 7am and the doctor will start an IV with pitocin and then he said he'd break my water about 8am and hopefully in the next 4 hours or so we'll have a baby! I'm not getting my hopes up that it will only be 4 hours but I don't expect a long process. I'm now dilated to 3cm and 80-90% effaced so I have changed since I was checked on Thursday and that's good news for everyone!
Please be praying for an easy delivery and that we can manage to get sleep tonight. And keep Micah & my mom in your prayers...we're not sure how he'll react to me not being here or visiting me in the hospital. We'll update as soon as we can!

Helping--and still no baby!

Micah loves helping me with the dishes now. This is one time when I actually mean helping! He takes everything out of the dishwasher one item at a time and puts it on the counter or in a drawer for me. It's actually really nice because I can't bend down to the bottom rack of the dishwasher as easily as I once could. He has yet to break anything but I do have to remind him to go slowly and be careful. He loves helping me and tells me the name of each item he takes out. It's funny to watch!

A few more pictures...a rare picture with Mom and another of a cheesy smile! And remember...I'm almost 40 weeks pregnant!
